11 Top Premier League Summer Transfer Targets

With the January transfer window closed, Premier Sports Memorabilia looks at the players who are (realistically) destined for a move to the Premier League after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Ander Herrera

Value: £18.30 Million
Current Club: Atletico Bilbao
Interested Club (s): Manchester United
How is he a good signing? Herrera is built along the Spanish model followed to develop the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta, and although the midfielder isn’t counted in the same breath as his illustrious comparison, he still possesses the ability to pull the strings in midfield. And with United suffering without a reliable presence in the middle of the park, Herrera could be the man to turn around David Moyes’ nightmare at the Theatre of Dreams.

Jackson Martinez

Value: £28.30 Million
Current Club: FC Porto
Interested Club(s): Chelsea and Arsenal
How is he a good signing? The talented Columbian was signed as Hulk’s replacement at the Stadio do Dragao and his since then captured the imagination of Europe’s top clubs with his performances. With 15 goals already to his name, the forward is just what Arsenal and Chelsea need to bolster their front-line, although the Blues may pipe down their interest following the arrival of Egyptian star Mohamad Salah.

Yann M’Vila

Value: £6.10 Million
Current Club: Rubin Kazan
Interested Club(s): Liverpool
How is he a good signing? With an ageing Steven Gerrard and an inexperienced midfield, the Reds are looking to bolster their lineup with quality additions and there is no one better than Yann M’Vila to fill that void. The talented Frenchman has been nicknamed the ‘New Patrick Vieira’ and could potentially fulfill those expectations by playing in the English Premier League.

Javier Pastore

Value: £12.20 Million
Current Club: Paris Saint-Germain
Interested Club(s): Liverpool and Manchester United
How is he a good signing? Pastore is already rated as one of the finest midfielders in Europe and would definitely be a great addition for both United and Liverpool. However, PSG are unwilling to sell and have the financial power to block any potential move.

Ivan Rakitic

Value: £7.32 Million
Current Club: Sevilla FC
Interested Club(s): Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea
How is he a good signing? Rakitic came of age in Euro 2012 and was perhaps Croatia’s best player in the tournament. With a good first touch and an eye for goal, his presence could be quite beneficial to the three English Premier League sides chasing his signature.

Julian Draxler

Value: £22.57 Million
Current Club: Schalke
Interested Club(s): Arsenal and Bayern Munich
How is he a good signing? The talented German attacker is built along the same lines as Mesut Ozil and is rated as a future star. Combining his passing abilities with an acute sense of dribbling, he is a potential world-class player in the making and is bound to make an impact wherever he goes.

Diego Costa

Value: £19.52 Million
Current Club: Atletico Madrid
Interested Club(s): Chelsea
How is he a good signing? Diego Costa has already shined in the UEFA Champions League and has 25 goals to his name in Spain this term. With such an impact, he could really elevate Chelsea’s threat level that has often relied on the misfiring Fernando Torres.

Victor Valdes

Value: Free Transfer
Current Club: Barcelona
Interested Club(s): Chelsea, Arsenal, Monaco
How is he a good signing? Valdes may not be the starter for Spain, but he has won everything the game has to offer on the International and domestic stage. And since he is available on a free transfer, he will undoubtedly have a lot of suitors but a hefty financial package can lure him away easily.

Toni Kroos

Value: £20.13 Million
Current Club: Bayern Munich
Interested Club(s): Manchester United and Manchester City
How is he a good signing? Kroos is Germany and Bayern Munich’s heartbeat. The cultured midfielder can easily influence proceedings and maintain the tempo of the game, something which both United and City have been lacking this season.

Mario Mandzukic

Value: £9.15 Million
Current Club: Bayern Munich
Interested Club(s): Arsenal and Juventus
How is he a good signing? For Arsenal, scoring has always been an issue since Robin Van Persie’s departure and the Gunners never really acquired anyone of his caliber after that. Mandzukic fits the bill perfectly and could provide immense value for money which will appeal to bargain-hunter Arsene Wenger.

Mohamed Salah

Value: £15.15 Million
Current Club: Basel – UPDATE Last minute move to Chelsea in January transfer window.
Interested Club(s): Chelsea
How is he a good signing? Following Juan Mata’s sale to Manchester United, Jose Mourinho quickly launched a bid to secure the services of Egyptian star Mohamad Salah. The talented attacker was the lynchpin of Basle’s lineup and was primarily responsible for their win over Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, prompting the Blues to splash the cash for his signature.
